Aftermath (the prelude to Iceboat)
HD, widescreen, color, stereo sound
3 minutes 5 seconds
2012
Aftermath hallucinates the aftermath of the artist rowing a boat of ice as it melts and as she flounders and floats. Aftermath mostly stays underwater but crucially includes the moment the artist goes under as shot from the onboard camera. No footage from the camera onboard is included in Iceboat. Aftermath prefigures the work, Iceboat, which is part of A Trilogy on Absenting, which traces simple performances exploring absenting, withdrawals, and disengagements.
Aftermath was commissioned by Tate for Channel 4 and was broadcast as part of Random Acts on television in the UK.
